Christchurch Riding
For the Disabled
Christchurch Riding for the Disabled provides goal based riding activities that increase the ability, strength and confidence of people with physical, intellectual, emotional and social challenges.
Jolt Dance
Jolt programmes challenge mainstream perceptions about dance, disability and difference by exploring movements and connections that are artistically unique.
StarJam
All over New Zealand, StarJam inspires young people with disabilities (our Jammers) to express themselves through music, dance, singing and performance. Our workshops, gigs and discos are fun and exciting spaces for Jammers to grow in confidence, discover musical and performance talents and make lifelong friends.
TIMA
TIMA provides physical sport and recreation activities adapted to individual needs. We do this in a safe, fun, inclusive and integrated environment. Professional instructors run school holiday programmes for Tamariki (Under 12) and Rangatahi (12-21) and weekly Thursday night basketball to small groups of participants who have a disability. TIMA also provides leadership and educational opportunities for participants and volunteers.
Big Fun Gymnastics
Big Fun’s objective is to provide a fun environment where people can gain confidence by improving their co-ordination, balance, strength and gross motor skills. Big Fun is a therapy/recreational programme which combines sensory integration therapy with the ultimate sensory integrative sport GYMNASTICS.
Sunshine Football
Sunshine Football has a year-round programme, for children and young adults, is designed to provide footballing and regular exercise opportunities for players with developmental delays including those with Down Syndrome and Autism.
We have trained coaches who provide low coach - player ratio training and support. The exercises are fun while encouraging skill development.
Southern Centre Sensory Room
The Southern Centre is a multi-sensory environment for people of all ages and abilities.
It is a unique facility with the ability to cater to the needs of the individual, empowering you to choose your own environment, make changes and control your leisure time.
Interact with the smell machine, bubble column, shadow wall and more – all aimed at stimulating an individual’s senses through smell, touch, light and sound.
Recreate Christchurch
Our programmes are designed for young people with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities. Everything we do is group based with 4 young people to one leader. We have 5 different types of programmes on offer. Families can pay for the programmes via Carer Support or Individualised Funding. We promote healthy living, safe social spaces, safe friendships and we want to provide life changing experiences for youth with disabilities.
Up Club
Our aim at Up Club is to support all of our members to grow their social and functional life skills through a range of activities which are community-based and interactive. We provide opportunities to get together and have fun. This helps the young people establish an understanding of their group and spend time with new friends.
Adaptive Snow Sports Canterbury
We encourage & support people with disabilities to experience the thrill of alpine skiing in Canterbury, New Zealand. We are an inclusive organization and welcome members of any age, gender, sexual orientation, religion or ethnicity.

Tri Rugby Canterbury
Unified Rugby enables people with Disabilities or Vulnerabilities to play together with mainstream rugby players.
Special Olympics Canterbury
Special Olympics Canterbury provides sporting and social opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities. We provide both training and competition up to international level for almost 300 athlete’s in over 10 different sports.
