How we help
-
We visit new parents in hospital or in their homes following a diagnosis of Down syndrome. We offer support and a chance to have a chat, or ask questions.
-
Held every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month for parents and little ones ages 0 – 3. Held in a variety of locations.
We also have a coffee support group in the Ashburton region that meets monthly.
For further information, please email cdsainc@gmail.com
-
There are some great private Facebook Groups; you will need to request to join these groups directly. It is a simple process, and these groups provide a wealth of knowledge and wonderful support.

Our bespoke resource library has a great selection of books and materials that can be borrowed by our members and by schools free of charge. Items can be ordered by emailing cdsainc@gmail.com or by visiting the library by appointment.

Throughout the year CDSA organises and hosts events for people who have Down syndrome and their significant others. Events range from fun-filled Discos, to Fire Safety education; from magic & entertainment shows to Parenting skills, or Transitioning to School, and much more.

Don’t forget to get out and about in your local community. Places that offer programmes like Mainly Music or Music for Tots are great options for your wee one and will enhance their development. Your local library will have a list for your area you can check out.
Or feel free to reach out to us; we may be able to offer suggestions for activities in your community.
